When I was a child I remember a time when my Dad "suggested" to my Mom that perhaps she had too many craft related hobbies. He was encouraging her to drop some of them in favor of doing ceramics. His reasoning was at least ceramics were breakable and occasionally he could get rid of something by knocking it off a table. Of course the next week he brought home a quilting frame for her so perhaps he was only kidding. Or maybe he was tired of sleeping on the couch at that point.
There are very few crafts that my Mom hasn't tried at some point, and she excels at most of those. Notable exceptions are latch hook rugs (boring, she says) and bow making and large floral arrangements.
So the love of all things crafty was genetically passed to me, as well as the frugal gene and my odd sense of humor. All things that I appreciate.
What I don't like is that she also passed on the Craft Supply Hoarder (CSH) gene. In most ways I'm a minimalist, but when it comes to craft supplies, I want it all. Even if I never use it. This blog is a way for me to challenge myself to use up some of the things I've been hoarding.
